Russian for heritage Speakers:

Russ 201-202

Do your parents speak Russian? Did you grow up speaking the language? We are offering a special "heritage speakers" section of RUSS 201-202 this year! Credit: 3 or 4 hours.

The course will cover highlights of the literature produced on East Slavic territory (the region that is now, but was not then, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus) from the eleventh through the seventeenth century, together with historical grammar, origin, and development of the East Slavic literary language. We will consider questions of genre, periodization, continuity and discontinuity, and relevance to modern literature. Work will be in both the original and translation. Language Prerequisite- completion of or placement beyond RUSS 301-302; or, permission of instructor.
